Bommie Night
I photogaphed this on a WW2 bomb site just off Crosfield Road in the Edge Hill area of Liverpool on 5th November 1972, children back then collected the wood, built the bonfire, lit and managed the fires, I don't remember any adult supervision, great fun and highly dangerous, this was also near Durning Road Fire Station so if things got out of hand they would soon sort it out. Most streets and bomb sites back then would have a bonfire and there could be a territory war between rival kids over the wood collecting. If you look closely at the flames there seems to be a figure reaching out, perhaps it was the Guy trying to escape.
